Will Owens Tell 23 Million Unemployed Americans that They’re Better Off?

The National Debt Surpassed $16 Trillion, But Dems Want to Spend More on Their Failed Big-Government Policies

WASHINGTON — Over the past four years, Bill Owens’ party has recklessly spent money we don’t have on failed government initiatives like a $832 billion stimulus package that didn’t work. As a result, our national debt has spiraled out-of-control, just hitting $16 trillion, while there are still 23 unemployed Americans who are not better off under Owens’ irresponsible fiscal agenda.

“Twenty-three million unemployed Americans and a $16 trillion debt are reminders that Bill Owens big-government policies are making a bad economy even worse,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Does Owens think we’re better off with more debt and fewer jobs?”

The debt is now over $16 trillion, President Obama is responsible for over $5 trillion of it:

“Total U.S. government debt eclipsed $16 trillion for the first time Friday, new government data show, as total federal borrowing continues marching toward the $16.394 trillion borrowing limit.” (Damian Paletta, “U.S. Debt Now Exceeds $16 Trillion,” Wall Street Journal, 9/4/2012)

There are 23 million unemployed or underemployed Americans in the Democrat economy:

“More than 23 million Americans are unemployed, underemployed or looking for work and since Obama has taken office the country has lost 316,000 jobs.” (Toby Harnden, “’Are you better off?’: No, gaffes Democrat senator as Obama heads to DNC with 23 million Americans unemployed, a shrinking middle class and a $16 trillion debt, Daily Mail, 9/4/2012)
