WH Press Secretary Refuses To Rule Out Minting Trillion-Dollar Coin

January 9, 2013

At today’s White House press briefing, Jay Carney was asked whether or not President Obama was in favor of Democrats’ plan to mint a trillion-dollar platinum coin to pay down our deficit. Five separate times he refused to rule it out.

It’s clear that President Obama and Democrats have no intention to cut spending. They simply want to print more money. It’s time to tell President Obama that our country has a spending problem.

Carney on trillion dollar coin: “There is no plan B, there is no backup plan. There is Congress’ responsibility to pay the bill.”

Sure sounds like Jay Carney’s leaving the $1 trillion coin option on the table to me

It is not unmeaningful that the WH rejects the 14A option but avoids taking a position on the coin.
