Significant NRCC Investment Comes on the Heels of Bad Poll for Shea-Porter

WASHINGTON – On the heels of a recent WMUR poll showing that the majority of New Hampshire’s 1st District voters hold a negative opinion of Congresswoman Shea-Porter, the National Republican Congressional Committee launched a new TV ad and digital campaign today against Shea-Porter. The ad, the first the NRCC has placed this cycle, highlights Shea-Porter’s recent vote against the No Budget, No Pay Act. The No Budget, No Pay Act stated that if Members of Congress are unable to pass a budget, then they wouldn’t get paid.

“Carol Shea-Porter’s failure to vote for a common sense, bipartisan bill like No Budget, No Pay speaks volumes of her self-serving priorities in Congress,” said NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior. “She would rather stand up for her own interests than those of hard working Granite State families, and this most recent poll shows that her poor decisions have not gone unnoticed.”

The script for this ad is as follows:

ANNOUNCER:

New Hampshire values. Work hard every day to earn a paycheck.

Pay the bills, provide for our kids. It’s what we do here in New Hampshire.

But in Washington, the politicians haven’t done their job. Congress hasn’t passed a budget, but Congress still gets paid.

Carol Shea-Porter voted to keep it that way. That may fly in Washington, but not here in New Hampshire.

Poll shows more people have a negative opinion of Shea-Porter. “U.S. Reps. Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster are both a month into their terms. The poll shows Shea-Porter almost even in favorability, with 38 percent holding a positive opinion of her and 39 percent having a negative opinion.” (WMUR Poll, 2/13/13)

Carol Shea-Porter Voted Against No Budget No Pay Legislation. (H.R. 325, Vote No. 30, 285-144, 1/23/13)
