After Calling Medicare A “Sacred Bond With Seniors,” DCCC Steve Israel Touts $700 Billion In Cuts

This morning on CNN’s State of the Union, DCCC Chair Steve Israel touted President Obama and Washington Democrats’ cuts to Medicare by $700 billion.

However, it wasn’t even a year ago that Israel wrote in a Politico op-ed that “Medicare [was] a sacred bond with seniors” and how 47 million Americans depend upon it:

“Medicare is a sacred bond with seniors that cannot be broken.

More than 47 million seniors depend on the Medicare benefits that they’ve earned through a lifetime of hard work. Millions of middle-class families are now paying into Medicare, so it will be there when they retire.”
