Getting Worse With Age…

Obamacare Is Turning Three And It’s Really Not Aging Well

  • Like bad wine, Obamacare is uncorked and it just keeps getting worse with age.

  • Health care premiums are getting higher—not lower, as promised. Businesses have slowed hiring and many have dropped spouses from their healthcare plans—if not dropping workers altogether.

  • Happy 3rd birthday, Obamacare. Here’s hoping this time next year, we’ll put the cork back in the bottle.

Under Obamacare, Health Insurance Premiums For Families Are Now About $3,000 Higher, Instead Of $2,500 Lower As President Obama Promised. “Although President Obama repeatedly claimed that health-insurance premiums for a family would be $2,500 lower by the end of his first term, they are actually about $3,000 higher—a spread of about $5,500 per family.” (Merrill Matthews and Mark E. Litow, “ObamaCare’s Health-Insurance Sticker Shock,” The Wall Street Journal, 1/13/2013)

In A Recent Survey, 61% Of Business Owners Cited Concerns About The Cost Of Healthcare As A Reason For Not Hiring More People. Under Obamacare, Healthcare Premiums Have Continued To Rise. (Dennis Jacobe, “More U.S. Small Businesses Cutting Workers Than Hiring,” Gallup, 1/31/2013; Merrill Matthews and Mark E. Litow op-ed, “ObamaCare’s Health-Insurance Sticker Shock,” The Wall Street Journal, 1/13/2013)

In A Recent Survey, 56% Of Business Owners Said That Their Concerns About New Government Regulations Were A Reason For Not Hiring More. (Dennis Jacobe, “More U.S. Small Businesses Cutting Workers Than Hiring,” Gallup, 1/31/2013)

  • Under Obamacare, 20,000 Pages Of New Regulations Have Already Been Published, With More Yet To Come. (Charlie  Spiering, “Photo: 828 Pages of New Obamacare Regulations in Just One Day,” The Washington Examiner, 3/12/2013)

Under Obamacare, Fewer Americans Now Have Employer-Provided Healthcare Coverage Than They Did In 2008. “The number of people getting healthcare through an employer is at its lowest point since President Obama took office, according to new Gallup data.” (Sam Baker, “Employer-Based Health Coverage Hits New Low,” The Hill, 2/22/2013)

Under Obamacare, Employers Are Now Beginning To Drop Their Workers’ Spouses From Their Healthcare Plans. “By denying coverage to spouses, employers not only save the annual premiums, but also the new fees that went into effect as part of the Affordable Care Act.” (Jen Wieczner, “Why Your Boss is Dumping Your Wife,” MarketWatch, 2/22/2013)
