Obama’s Forgotten Economy: Presidency Marked By Record Poverty Levels, High Hispanic Unemployment and Youth Still Struggling For Jobs

May 6, 2013

  • President Obama says he’s making progress on the economy, but many people are still being left behind by his failed policies.

  • His administration has presided over record poverty levels, including a near-doubling of Americans on food stamps.

  • The Obama economy has also been particularly hard on Hispanics— who still see an unacceptably high unemployment rate of 9 percent.

  • Lastly, younger Americans have an effective unemployment rate of over 16 percent and are facing the worst jobs market since World War II.

  • President Obama’s failed top-down policies clearly haven’t worked—in fact, they’ve made the problem worse. It’s time to grow the economy organically so that all Americans have a fair shot.
