7 Democrats That Love Obama’s War on Energy

June 26, 2013

Hi there—

Wanted to make sure you saw that the NRCC is releasing paid web ads against 7 Democrat incumbents this morning. The ads focus on their support for the slew of new regulations President Obama announced yesterday, including his comment from 2008 that his cap-and-trade plan would cause electricity rates to “necessarily skyrocket.” In fact, a study found his new plan would impact 37,000 employees. Timing is fitting considering four years ago House Democrats voted for President Obama’s cap-and-trade scheme. (H.R. 2454, Roll Call Vote 477, 6/26/09)

TARGETS: Collin Peterson (MN-07); Ron Barber (AZ-02); Dave Loebsack (IA-02); Rick Nolan (MN-08); Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01); Pete Gallego (TX-23); Nick Rahall (WV-03)

The Hill, NRCC hitting Dems on Obama’s climate change proposal
“The National Republican Congressional Committee is already on offense on Obama’s climate change push, launching web ads against a handful of Democrats that ask them to answer for the proposal. The ads feature a clip of Obama from the 2008 campaign asserting that, under his energy plan, ‘of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.’”

CNN, Republicans tie rivals to Obama’s climate change push
“The National Republican Congressional Committee is putting money behind a slew of online ads linking vulnerable House Democrats to the president’s renewed fight against carbon pollution. Obama’s proposals to put stricter regulations on coal-fired power plants will increase electricity rates, the Web ads argue. They direct viewers to call their representative and urge him or her to block the president’s new push.”
