Lauren, a Student from Miami, Florida Watched Her Monthly Medicines Skyrocket to Almost $1000 a Month

December 11, 2013

“I received a letter a couple of weeks ago from Blue Cross Blue Shield stating that my health insurance had to be cancelled due to the “Affordable” Care Act. I am 23 years old and have been on medicine since I was 19. My medicine normally costs me a little under a hundred dollars a month with my Blue Cross plan, but this month I had to pay cash. My meds were nearly $800 for one month. My university was also forced to cancel their student health plan option.

I’m stuck paying nearly 3 times as much with twice the deductible under my new Blue Cross plan. Obamacare has had a profoundly negative effect on my life, wallet and mental well being.”
