Dems Plans Outlined In Memo To Distance Themselves From ObamaCare Backfire

Did you see that memo? The one from the DCCC?

Well, on Monday, the Democrats claimed in a memo to reporters that they are going to go on offense on ObamaCare and somehow “neutralize” the issue in 2014 by showcasing how Democrats are trying to “fix” the law they created.

So, let’s see how that strategy is working out for them….

The test model for this approach, as profiled by the New York Times, is Ann Kirkpatrick’s race in Arizona’s First District. Kirkpatrick voted for ObamaCare in 2010.

Here’s how the grand plan went down:

  1. First, Democrats launched an ad in January claiming that Ann Kirkpatrick “blew the whistle” on the problems with the ObamaCare website.
  2. Then, the Arizona Republic called that claim “dubious,” saying “Kirkpatrick didn’t criticize the roll-out of HealthCare.gov until six weeks after the website’s problematic launch. That’s hardly blowing the whistle.”
  3. Next, Factcheck.org weighed in, pointing out the ridiculousness of the ad’s claims in a piece titled: “Whistle-blower? Not So Much.”
  4. Now, Huffington Post is mocking the ad and the Democrats’ supposed strategy in a devastating piece: “As entertaining as it is to hear these declamations against the website, it’s also hard to miss their hollowness.”
  5. Oh, and by the way, the NRCC launched our own ad, hitting back and correcting the record.

We’re really hoping the DCCC is, in fact, planning to use this same strategy in every other race.
