Collin Peterson Violates Term Limit Pledge

March 18, 2014

Yesterday, Rep. Collin Peterson announced his plans to run for a 13th term in the House of Representatives. First elected in 1990, Peterson was in Congress before the Soviet Union collapsed, Bill Clinton was elected president, and Miley Cyrus was born.

Yet, Peterson has voiced his support for 12-year term limits in the past and even voted for a term limits constitutional amendment.

At the time Peterson said, “It is clear that the people of this country and the 7th District want term limits and I’m disappointed that we failed to achieve enough votes.”

I couldn’t agree more.

In 2010, Peterson also signed the U.S. Term Limits Amendment Pledge – 20 years after he first ran for Congress.

If Collin Peterson is so supportive of term limits, his last congressional race should’ve been at the turn of the century. Collin Peterson is just another disingenuous professional politician who will say anything to get reelected.

Minnesota families deserve better.
