If You Like Your Doctor, You Can Find a New One

April 11, 2014

During his presidential campaign and implementation of the (un)Affordable Care Act, President Obama often stated that “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” However, this is not the case for Noam Friedlander after her serious back pains required surgery.

In January, Noam Friedlander had been experiencing excruciating lower back pain and was informed that she would need surgery to remove part of a herniated disc. Friedlander was covered by Blue Shield insurance through Covered California under the leaky, ObamaCare umbrella. Unfortunately, she began to realize the lie that President Obama created and had many problems trying to get a doctor for the surgery.

“No one could help me. Some expressed sympathy,” Friedlander, 40, told The Huffington Post in an email. “They told me, ‘I’m so sorry — it’s all just so new. You’re a victim of the changes. No one knows what they’re doing.’”

In the end, Noam had to take out two credits to pay the surgeon that was not under her coverage.

From the very beginning, Republicans stated that the President’s Health Care Law would lead to fewer jobs, more debt and higher healthcare loss.

From The Huffington Post:

“However, nationwide, about 70 percent of Obamacare plans offer fewer hospitals and doctors than employer-sponsored group plans or pre-ACA individual market plans, according to a study by consulting firm McKinsey & Company released in December. This narrowed number of doctors and hospitals is what Friedlander encountered when trying to match a surgeon and hospital that would both be covered.”
