R.I.P. Cover Oregon

April 25, 2014

After unsuccessfully launching a functional ObamaCare website, Oregon’s health insurance exchange site will likely be taken over by the Obama Administration. This transition will make Oregon the first state to cancel its own ObamaCare exchange website.

After being given a $305 million dollar grant, the website is still experiencing glitches and has yet to enroll a single person as of March. In addition, it has also failed to explain why the exchange site is still not up and running.

To solve this issue, Oregon Representative and NRCC Chairman Greg Walden is leading the effort to investigate how this catastrophe occurred and who was in charge:

“Cover Oregon is the digital equivalent of the 1962 Columbus Day storm. It is the worst financial failure in information technology in state history—and it was completely avoidable,” he stated. “Taxpayers deserve answers and demand accountability.”

Families and taxpayers are giving a majority of their income to ObamaCare just to have their premiums raised, find new doctors and create more stress. Cover Oregon’s inability to launch a successful website and enroll members is another example of why we need to repeal this egregious health care law.

From The Hill:

“Alex Pettit, the state’s chief information officer, recommended to an advisory board Thursday that the state hand the reins to the federal government.

“Members of the panel appeared to agree, The Oregonian newspaper reported. The board will meet again on Friday morning to further discuss the issue, and perhaps hold a vote.”
