ObamaCare Forces Michigan Hospice to Shut Down

June 18, 2014

Not only have elderly Michiganders been looking for new doctors, but now they will have to find a new hospice as the Hospice of Holland will be going out of business due to ObamaCare’s cuts in reimbursements.

In order to stay in business and provide for their patients, the Hospice of Holland was forced to use money from their savings account as they were preparing for a twelve percent cut. Torrey Husmann, Executive Director, stated that “Obamacare has forced the hospice house to shut down early, instead of in 2018 or 2019.”

It is appalling and dreadful that ObamaCare is forcing Hospices around the country to turn away those who are looking for end of life care. Taxpayers are tired of the Democrats’ failed policies and the Administration’s empty promises. This fall, voters will elect Republican leaders to Congress in place of the Democrats’ who voted for this costly and flawed law.

From Washington Free Beacon:

The biggest issue under the Affordable Care Act is…that we’re going to see cuts in reimbursement- it’s going to be at least 12 percent. We projected out what those cuts are going to do to the organization long term and we realized that in a short period of time, we’re going to be pulling money from our savings in order to keep the house open,” the Executive Director told WXMI.”
