Local Democrats Rip Aimee Belgard As “DCCC Puppet”

August 21, 2014

Belgard

It has been a pretty tough week for career politician Aimee Belgard and her Washington D.C. backer the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. First, the DCCC’s ad got destroyed by FactCheck.org. Then the DCCC was forced to pull down their original ad, change it, and re-air an ad that STILL does not address FactCheck.org’s problems with it.

Now, we learn that local Democrats have had it with Belgard and the DCCC. Here are just a few highlights from the PolitickerNJ article that hit last night:

– Some “who express frustration as they now watch Belgard, in their words, lead a “cookie-cutter” campaign by the “DCCC playbook” — say the candidate’s biggest disadvantage is her own campaign.”

– Belgard’s campaign is “abysmal. Anyone who thinks Belgard can win is delusional.”

– “She’s running against, essentially, a guy from Morris County and she seems more uncomfortable,” one source said. “She’s not talking local issues, she’s refusing to debate, she’s a DCCC puppet.”

– One source pointed out that Belgard’s campaign team contains mostly DCCC-connected staffers, and few New Jersey-based strategists.

Ouch!

NRCC Comment: “Career politician Aimee Belagrd’s campaign-by-press release has been a complete disaster. She refuses to talk to the media, her liberal Washington D.C. allies air ads that backfire on her, and now even local Democrats are trashing her campaign. It’s looking more and more like Belgard chances in November amount to a number with which she is becoming very familiar – ZERO.”– NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
