Nick Rahall Is No Friend To Coal Miners

September 2, 2014

Today the National Republican Congressional Committee is up with its first WV-03 television ad of the fall. The ad is entitled “Rahall’s Record” and will be airing in the Bluefield-Beckley and Charleston-Huntington broadcast markets. Click here for the ad: Rahall Screen

NRCC Comment: “Since 2008, Nick Rahall has twice endorsed Barack Obama for President and has continually voted in favor of his agenda to destroy West Virginia’s economy as we know it. Whether Rahall is voting for cap-and-trade, a carbon tax, or to give the EPA more money and power to wage the war on coal, Rahall has shown that he puts loyalty to Obama over what is right for West Virginia families.”– NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior

Transcript: JOE MCCORMICK: My name’s Joe McCormick. I’ve been an underground coalminer for almost 11 years. I came straight out of high school, went to the mines. Makes a great living for my family.

I don’t know what I’m going to do if I lose my job. The EPA and the Obama Administration is regulating us to death.

Anyone, including Nick Rahall, who supports Barack Obama, is not a friend of coal. The war on coal is a war on me personally. It’s a war on West Virginia. It’s a war on hard-working Americans. You’re not going to stand by someone that’s declared war on you.

When Nick Rahall votes with Barack Obama, that tells me that Nick Rahall don’t really care about Southern West Virginia. He don’t care about us coal miners.

I think after somebody’s been in Washington for 38 years, and they’re now a millionaire, I think they kind of lose touch with reality. Rahall is voting for the Washington crowd, and for Obama.

I’d say a vote for Nick Rahall is a vote for Obama. I think it’s time for someone new.
