John Foust has a spending addiciton

September 9, 2014

John Foust is up with a new TV ad today touting all of the “waste” he has cut as a Fairfax County Supervisor. What Foust is not telling you is that one of his top vices is spending. It’s time for Foust to admit he has a problem.

Since John Foust was elected to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, he has voted to increase county spending which is now up to $3.72 billion. How did Foust fund all this spending? With INSANE tax increases.

In 2014, Foust voted for the largest tax hike since 2007!

In a headline titled, “Fairfax Co. board approves largest tax hike since 2007,” WUSA-9 reported, “Tuesday, Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity expressed disappointment over the board’s decision to approve the largest tax hike since 2007. (WUSA-9, April 22, 2014)

At the same time Foust was raising taxes to a historic level, he was also short changing the schools in Fairfax County:

The budget fell short in funding sought by the county school district, allocating an extra $51.5 million to the school system instead of the $98.1 million Superintendent Karen Garza said was needed to ward off drastic cuts and raise teacher pay. As a result, the Fairfax County School Board has approved a $2.5 billion budget for 2015 that eliminates 720 employee positions, increases class sizes and provides raises for most teachers. In 2010, Foust also taxed drivers in Northern Virginia with a “decal tax” which the Fairfax County Chamber objected to. Even Democrat Rep. Gerry Connolly criticized Foust and the supervisors for bringing back the decal tax. As you cover Foust’s TV ad, please consider the following quote from the National Republican Congressional Committee:

“John Foust’s TV ad is leaving out a key piece of information – he loves to tax Northern Virginia families so he can continue to spend, spend, spend! If sent to Congress, Foust would find his happy place sitting alongside Nancy Pelosi as they find new and inventive ways to bankrupt the country with their spending addiction.” – Katie Prill, NRCC Spokeswoman
