Good morning and welcome to NRCC Morning Reads for Tuesday, November 4, 2014.

Today is Election Day. Across the country, you finally have the chance to make your voice heard. President Obama and Nancy Pelosi have spent the last two years plotting a path back to complete liberal control of Washington. Today, let’s fight back and elect and stronger and more diverse House Republican majority.

ObamaCare: An Issue Then, An Issue Now:

The Hill‘s Sarah Ferris examined our focus on ObamaCare throughout the 2014 cycle. Though President Obama and his supporters wish it wasn’t an issue, over and over again voters made clear that they were unhappy with his government takeover of healthcare. Democrats finally couldn’t deny it any longer when it was implemented last fall.

“About one-third of the 130 television ads aired by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) this cycle have focused on ObamaCare, the group said Monday.

‘That is only slightly more than the 30 percent of ads that targeted House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). The rest were split among issues like spending and debt, immigration and President Obama himself.

‘The GOP’s advertising strategy reflects its broader effort to lift the profile of the highly unpopular healthcare law among midterms voters, even as it largely stayed out of the headlines in recent months.”

Elise Stefanik: GOP Rising Star

Tonight, Elise Stefanik may become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Business Insider’s Brett LoGuirato profiled the Republican candidate from New York’s 21st Congressional district:

“For Stefanik, one moment during the campaign crystallized why politics is the right path for her. She was at a roundtable with servicemen at River Hospital near Fort Drum.

‘They talked about their difficulties in their post-service lives, struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and thoughts and attempts of suicide. The service members discussed creative programs that provided flexibility and outside-the-box approaches toward dealing with their needs.

‘I will take that with me for the rest of my life,’ Stefanik said. ‘This is why we need people running for office. So those groups have an advocate in Washington. That’s one of the reasons why I’m running.'”

Last-Minute Predictions From Rothenberg:

Nathan Gonzales of the Rothenberg Political Report says Republicans are on the edge of a “good, great Election Night.” He cited races such as Republican and Army vet Lee Zeldin’s race in New York’s 1st Congressional district, Carl DeMaio in California’s 52nd Congressional district, and Rick Allen in Georgia’s 12th Congressional district.

News and Notes from the Campaign Trail:

  • A last minute poll down in Georgia’s 12th Congressional district shows Republican Rick Allen with a narrow lead over Democrat John Barrow.
  • Down in Florida, scandal-tarred Democrat Joe Garcia spent the last remaining hours of the campaign on defense as Republican Carlos Curbelo continued to criticize him over his support of President Obama and numerous scandals.
  • Meanwhile, the Garcia campaign still won’t release the robocall that Hillary Clinton recorded for the campaign.
  • The Hill examines how House Democrats are bracing for losses across the country tonight.

This is your final edition of NRCC Morning Reads. Today is Election Day. Get out there and vote. Let’s keep America free and prosperous for all.
