Collin Peterson’s “House of Cards” Cameo

January 27, 2015

According to the Star Tribune today, Collin Peterson is “running at this point” for reelection in 2016, but not for the reasons you’d expect.MN07

When asked why he was seeking a 14th term in Congress, Peterson conspicuously did not mention the honor of representing his district or helping his constituents. Instead, sounding like a character from the political drama House of Cards, Peterson unbelievably cited personal animosity towards his political enemies as his main motivation.

“They energized me last time, they got me fired up,” said Peterson

After 24 years in Congress, Peterson is clearly thinking more about making good on political grudges than helping the very constituents that sent him to Washington more than that two decades ago.

NRCC Comment: “After 24 years in Congress, Collin Peterson is clearly thinking more about making good on political grudges than helping the very constituents that sent him to Washington more than two decades ago. Peterson’s jaw-dropping cynicism is worthy of a cameo in “House of Cards,” and hardworking Minnesota families deserve better.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
