MN will lose more steel jobs if Rick Nolan has his way

April 1, 2015

minntac033115Today, the MinnPost reported that U.S. Steel will “idle parts of its Minntac taconite plant,” leaving 700 workers without jobs.

Last week, Rick Nolan unbelievably piled on the already struggling steel industry by voting in favor of a carbon tax that experts agree would devastate steel producers.

At a time when the steel industry is facing challenges from unscrupulous foreign competitors, it is shameful that Rick Nolan would side with extreme environmentalists over hardworking Minnesotans. If Rick Nolan has his way, these 700 lost steel jobs will be just the beginning.

NRCC Comment: “With 700 steel workers and their families now wondering how they will make ends meet, Rick Nolan should explain why he supported a carbon tax that would only further damage the steel industry. It is unconscionable that Nolan would put politics and activists ahead of 8th District families.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
