Gwen Graham Snubs North Florida’s Family Farmers

April 16, 2015

farmingIt’s another day and another instance of Gwen Graham’s rhetoric contradicting her voting record.  This time, Graham contradicts all of her talk of supporting farmers by opposing H.R. 1105, the Death Tax Repeal Act.  The Death Tax hits family-owned farms hard.  Oftentimes the heirs of a deceased farm owner are forced to sell off tractors, equipment, and sometimes large parts of the farm itself in order to pay the 40 percent tax.  Simply put, the Death Tax kills the dream of passing on the family farm to the next generation.

As you may recall, a few months ago Graham bragged about her assignment to the House Agriculture Committee and its subcommittees because it would allow North Florida farmers to have a stronger voice in Washington.  Specifically, Graham stated, “Farmers and rural communities are the backbone of North Florida. Serving on these subcommittees will give North Florida’s farmers and agriculture research programs a stronger voice in Congress.”

Not so much, apparently.

NRCC Comment:  “Gwen Graham is an expert at reciting her campaign rhetoric, but when it comes to backing it up through her voting record, she’s completely inept.  If Gwen Graham really did care about North Florida farmers as she claims, she would have voted to repeal the Death tax since it is a huge financial burden on North Florida farmers.” – NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack
