LA Times spotlights Bera’s budget hypocrisy

April 27, 2015

This morning, the LA Times put a spotlight on Ami Bera’s hypocrisy of refusing to support any of the seven budgets offered during budget season in the U.S. House of Representatives after campaigning on his support of ‘no budget, no pay’ legislation.No-Budget

In fact, Bera voted against every budget offered “just a few months after he campaigned aggressively on a platform of improving the way Congress functions, including running at least four ads highlighting his support for a bill that would strip pay from lawmakers if they failed to pass a budget on time.”

Despite the beginnings of a “do-something Congress” it was largely “Democrats like Bera” who refused to take a stand during the budget process, “the first opportunity lawmakers had this year to weigh in on the crucial taxing and spending battles ahead.”

Bera even declined to propose a budget of his own, as any member is entitled to do, leaving his constituents completely voiceless in the budgeting process.

NRCC Comment: “Ami Bera is part of the problem in Washington, saying one thing on the campaign trail but doing the politically expedient thing after the elections. 7th district families deserve leadership, not political doublespeak.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Hunter
