Collin Peterson Votes in Support of Bringing GITMO Terrorists onto U.S. Soil

June 11, 2015

Collin Peterson has proven once again to be reckless with the safety of American citizens as he voted in support of bringing known terrorists from Guantanamo Bay onto U.S. soil.

Instead of looking to protect Minnesota families and strengthen our national security, Peterson has voted in support of an amendment proposed by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (NY-10) to the Department of Defense Appropriations Act. This amendment would allow terrorists housed at Guantanamo Bay to be transported onto U.S. soil. Minnesota families need a representative who will fight for their safety, not in support of known terrorists.

“Collin Peterson is acting recklessly with the safety and security of Minnesota families,” said NRCC Communications Director Katie Martin. “Peterson’s vote to allow known terrorists onto American soil is appalling and threatens the security of American citizens. Minnesota families deserve someone who will work to strengthen our national security, not weaken our protection.”
