Is a St. Pete councilwoman looking to fly the coop?

June 23, 2015

fly the coopSo how about St. Pete Councilwoman Darden Rice?  After serving less than half of her first term in elected office, she’s already looking to fly the coop to run for Congress in FL-13.  In Rice’s short time in office, she’s already earned the reputation “as one of the council’s more progressive members.” (Pssst…that’s probably not going to go over too well in FL-13.)

In Rice’s race for city council, she scored the endorsement of Kathy Castor, who votes with Nancy Pelosi a whopping 97.5 percent of the time.  But hey — establishing yourself as an ultra-liberal may not be a bad strategy for what is quickly becoming a crowded Democratic primary field in FL-13.  Of course, it just means you’re toast in the general election….not that we’re complaining.
