The Clinton-Schumer-Peterson carbon tax?

June 24, 2015

Quick, somebody go find Collin Peterson and let him know that his fellow Democrats are floating another farm-destroying environmental bill he might want to support. Just yesterday, Chuck Schumer outlined a plan to implement a carbon tax if Democrats take control of the Senate and Hillary Clinton wins the White House in 2016. HillChuck

The Clinton-Schumer carbon tax should bring up memories of 2009 when Collin Peterson cast his vote in favor of pushing Nancy Pelosi’s cap and trade bill through the House. As a key supporter of the 2009 bill, will Peterson stand with Clinton and Schumer instead of Minnesota farmers?

Before answering that question, Peterson may want to take a look at this MinnPost article showing how Hillary is underwater with Minnesota voters. Only 35% view Clinton favorably, while 49% view her unfavorably. Ouch.

Peterson already chose a job-destroying cap and trade bill over Minnesota farmers so it shouldn’t be shocking if he sides with an unpopular Clinton. Maybe we should call this job-destroying plan the Clinton-Schumer-Peterson carbon tax?

“Collin Peterson made it clear that he will put politics before the best interests of Minnesota farmers and their families when he voted to push Nancy Pelosi’s cap and trade plan back in 2009. If Peterson wants to prove to his constituents that after 24 years he hasn’t gone Washington, he should tell Hillary Clinton and Sen. Chuck Schumer to take a hike when it comes to devastating Minnesota agriculture.” – NRCC Regional Spokesman Zach Hunter
