How’s that #momentum thing working out for Gretchen Driskell?

July 15, 2015

Remember when Gretchen Driskell was bragging on Twitter about how much #momentum her campaign had going for it?  Turns out she may have been exaggerating just a tad. (And by “just a tad” we mean that her numbers are so pitiful that she had to loan her campaign $60,000 just to save face.)  You can check it out for yourself by consulting line 13(b) here.

When you subtract the $60,000 Driskell loaned herself, she only raised $146,190.12 this quarter.  When you include the loan, she still has a not-so-impressive cash on hand figure.  (Conversely, Tim Walberg raised $450,745.98 this quarter and has $792,124.12 cash on hand.)  So while Driskell’s campaign is certainly stumbling out of the gate despite all of that silly Twitter talk about #momentum, at least she’s putting that 25% pay raise she gave herself as Saline Mayor to good use.

NRCC Comment:  “If Gretchen Driskell is going to brag on Twitter about how much momentum her campaign has going for it, she should first make sure she doesn’t end up having to loan it $60,000 to save face.  But good for Driskell – at least she is putting that 25% pay raise she gave herself as Saline Mayor to good use.” –NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack
