Welcome to the campaign trail, President Obama!

March 17, 2016

obama clintonPresident Obama has decided to become more involved in the 2016 election. Perhaps sensing the lack of enthusiasm for presumed Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton, Obama will try to rekindle the energy that helped him in his campaigns.

However, Obama’s presence on the campaign trail will come with a whole new set of baggage that Clinton and House Democrats will be forced to confront.

  • Obama’s signature achievement, Obamacare, is viewed unfavorably by 54% of likely voters
  • 56% oppose Obama’s efforts to close the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay
  • Obama’s approval rating on foreign policy is an anemic 37%

With Obama on the campaign trail, House Democrats will now have to contend not only with a deeply unpopular presidential candidate at the top of the ticket, but also with daily reminders of President Obama’s failed legacy as commander-in-chief.

NRCC Comment: “President Obama’s presence on the campaign trail will serve as a daily reminder of his deeply unpopular policies that House Democrats have blindly supported. From Obamacare to his foreign policy failures, Democrat incumbents and challengers will be forced to either defend Obama’s failed record or run away from the president and their own nominee at the top of the ticket.” – NRCC Spokesman Bob Salera
