Jim Mowrer’s Wall Street Hypocrisy

May 2, 2016

Well this is just confusing. This morning Jim Mowrer released a new TV ad saying that, “Congress cares more about banks and Wall Street than you and me, I get it. That’s why I’m running… it’s time we had a Congressman who works for Main Street, not Wall Street.”

There is just one little problem: Since the start of his campaign, Mowrer has accepted over $40,000 from individuals with ties to Security and Investment firms and various financial institutions, according to OpenSecrets.org. The financial firms whose employees have donated to Mowrer are a who’s who of Wall Street:

JP Morgan

Wells Fargo

Merrill Lynch

Bain Capital

RBC Capital Market

It’s the height of hypocrisy for Jim Mowrer to criticize Wall Street on the stump and then pocket their cash to fund his campaign.

NRCC Comment: “Despite his campaign rhetoric bashing the financial industry, Jim Mowrer has hypocritically accepted more than $40,000 from individuals with ties to Wall Street firms. No matter what he says on the stump, Mowrer clearly has no problem with Wall Street as long as his campaign coffers are full.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Kate Constantini
