Pete Aguilar’s Obamacare Dilemma

May 5, 2016

Pete Aguilar is in a tight spot. Recent surveys show Obamacare is growing more unpopular, driven in part by a liberal base that wants to go even further, while Democrats simultaneously face a possible November surprise when health care premiums are expected to skyrocket. Aguilar has long stood by the law, having voted against repealing it and many specific fixes.

Additionally, Aguilar was quick to endorse Hillary Clinton, who has fully embraced Obamacare and the more than $700 billion in Medicare cuts that come with it. While Aguilar may be happy to stand in support of the creator of HillaryCare, the voters in his district will certainly feel different in November.

NRCC Comment: “Instead of standing up for the families of California’s 31st District, Pete Aguilar has decided to stand with Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and continue to defend the health care disaster that is Obamacare. While Aguilar may be happy to stand in support of the creator of HillaryCare, voters in the 31st District will certainly feel different come November.” – Kate Constantini, NRCC Spokesperson
