NRCC Weekly Rundown: New ads, Randy Perkins melts down, Rick Nolan calls Iran Deal a “victory,” and more!

September 23, 2016

run-down

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

NEW TV ADS:

CO-06: A new NRCC ad highlights Morgan Carroll’s fiscally reckless record in office, where she voted to nearly double the state budget, while supporting increases in the income tax, sales tax, and taxes on candy and soda.

ME-02: A new ad from the NRCC highlight’s Emily Cain’s shared support with Hillary Clinton for the disastrous Iran nuclear deal, despite the billions of dollars from the deal that could go to fund terrorism.

MI-01: In a new ad this week, the NRCC pointed out that Lon Johnson is trying to fool 1st District voters into thinking he’s one of them, trying to pass off stock photos from Wikipedia as his family. In reality, Lon Johnson is a political insider who lives in a luxury apartment in Detroit.

MN-08: The NRCC’s new ad in Minnesota’s 8th District highlights Rick Nolan’s dangerous record on national security, including his support for the disastrous Iran nuclear deal, and for closing GITMO and moving the terrorists held there to U.S. soil.

NV-03: In a new ad, the NRCC is highlighting how Jacky Rosen is a perfect fit for Washington liberals, but not so much for Nevada families. Rosen’s support for liberal causes includes her backing for Obamacare, which she calls a “fabulous first step” while Nevadans feel the effects through Medicare cuts, increased premium costs, and cancelled plans.

NV-04: The NRCC went on the air with a new ad offering the clear contrast between Cresent Hardy’s commonsense solutions and Ruben Kihuen’s self-interested ambition and record of hostility towards Nevada businesses and taxpayers.

NY-19: The NRCC debuted a new ad highlighting Professor Zephyr Teachout’s out-of-touch support for the disastrous Iran nuclear deal, which puts the terrorist sponsoring nation on a path to obtaining a nuclear weapon.

PA-08: A new ad from the NRCC tells the part Steve Santarsiero left out in his ad about refusing perks while in Harrisburg. The ad exposes the nearly $50,000 in mileage, hotels, and food that Santarsiero billed taxpayers for while he was busy never passing a single bill in the PA General Assembly.

TX-23: A new NRCC TV ad highlighted Pete Gallego’s personal revolving door between political office and lobbying. After being fired by voters Gallego cashed in as a lobbyist, and is now trying to return to Congress.

OTHER ITEMS:

National: DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján appeared on Bloomberg Politics this week and attempted to dodge a question as to whether Democrats could win back the majority this year. When pressed, Luján could not bring himself to echo Nancy Pelosi’s bold predictions from earlier this month, instead sputtering something about not being able to call it likely or unlikely.

AZ-01: Tom O’Halleran unveiled his shamelessly hypocritical first TV ad this week. O’Halleran advocates withholding lawmakers’ pay if they don’t pass a budget, despite being an outspoken advocate for raising his pay when he was office, discusses shunning special interests, despite accepting $200,000 in special interest cash, and endorses reducing travel perks, despite accepting $100,000 in travel expenses from taxpayers as a state legislator.

CA-24: Salud Carbajal’s elitism was showing when he called Lompoc the “armpit” of Santa Barbara County. To make mocking the constituents he hopes to represent even worse, Carbajal has spent years as a Santa Barbara County supervisor, and on his watch, the income inequality in the region has climbed to sixth worst in the nation.

CO-06: With health insurance premiums in Colorado set to rise by an average of 20% next year, the NRCC asked if Morgan Carroll would stand by her longtime support to go even further than Obamacare with a full government takeover of health care. Carroll’s support for this extreme plan was likely a major factor in her endorsement from socialist Senator Bernie Sanders.

FL-18: Lawsuit abusing bully Randy Perkins really began to come apart at the seams this week, attempting to bully TV stations into censoring Brian Mast’s ad highlighting his service to our country while running his own animated digital ad making fun of Mast’s combat injuries. Perkins became enraged and inexplicably questioned whether Mast’s military service qualified him to serve in Congress, and challenged the heroic double amputee to “be a man” and “stand behind” his ads.

IA-03: National Journal highlighted Jim Mowrer’s ongoing issues with misleading campaign ads. Mowrer was forced to pull an ad to change the script, and was called out by the Des Moines Register, which called the ad “mostly false.”

MD-06: The first debate in the 6th District was this week, and the NRCC proposed some questions that John Delaney has been dodging regarding the Iran nuclear deal, his support for closing GITMO, and Hillary Clinton.

MN-08: The DCCC released a new ad that includes attacks against Stewart Mills that are so outrageously false, they have already led to three TV stations from pulling previous ads containing them from the air. This just goes to show the lengths national Democrats are willing to go to distract from Rick Nolan’s extreme record on foreign policy, which was on full display at this week’s debate.

NV-04: Ruben Kihuen’s boss, and fellow superdelegate was mocked by TBS’s Samantha Bee for lobbying for a payday loan company while serving as a Democrat Superdelegate. Kihuen was even listed on screen. I guess that’s one way to get national exposure!

NY-03:  Tom Suozzi says the darndest things. This time, Taxin’ Tom told an audience that if they made $150,000 they were struggling. Interesting thing to say, when the average household income in Nassau County is $93,000.

NY-19: The NRCC concluded its epic series, Zephyr Teachout the pandering Super-PAC hypocrite, with volumes, 18, 19, and 20, and followed up with a bonus edition when Teachout posted b-roll for Super PACs to use in ads supporting her campaign.

TX-23: Pete Gallego attempted to use a vote against a single provision in Obamacare as an example of him crossing party lines. The problem? Gallego opposed the repeal of the disastrous health care law and continues to support it.

WI-08: Taxin’ Tom Nelson forgot he was supposed to be pretending to be a moderate this week, as he touted his endorsement by socialist Senator Bernie Sanders. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Nelson would garner the support of the far left considering his support for raising state taxes by over $3 billion while in the state legislature.
