Pelosi Dodges Questions On Investigation Into Cyber-Security Breaches By Democratic Staffer

May 25, 2017

Nancy Pelosi attempted to defend the employment of a Democratic staffer currently under investigation by Capitol Police.

When pressed, Pelosi admitted that she knew very little about the investigation and lacked understanding about the situation.

Pelosi’s quick to accuse and attack her political opponents, but refuses to condemn potentially massive cyber-security breaches at the hands of her own party.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wouldn’t comment on whether Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL) IT staffer, who is under investigation by the Capitol Hill Police, should still be an adviser to the Florida congresswoman during her weekly press conference on Thursday.

A reporter asked Pelosi whether Imran Awan, who is under investigation for “massive cybersecurity breaches involving funneling sensitive congressional data offsite,” should still be an adviser to Wasserman Schultz.

Wasserman Schultz earlier in the week threatened the U.S. Capitol Police with “consequences” for holding equipment that she claimed belonged to her. The police believe the equipment is pertinent to their investigation of Awan.

“Well, the people who are under investigation are the Attorney General of the United States,” Pelosi told the reporter.

Pelosi then dodged the question, telling the reporter that she was not familiar with the situation.

“There are plenty of people who are under investigation who still have their jobs,” Pelosi concluded.
