lipstick and pigs

April 18, 2018

Generally speaking, when you think “champion of the farming community” does your mind automatically go to San Fran liberal Nancy Pelosi? No? Then why is Collin Peterson taking his marching orders from her on the Farm Bill?

April 9: Pelosi sent out a press release urging members of the Agriculture Committee to vote against the Farm Bill.

April 16: Peterson goes on AgriTalk and rails against the bill, even though all of his priorities are included in it.

Absurd claim #1 — Peterson states that you “can’t put lipstick on a pig.”
Reality: When Peterson walked away from negotiations in March, all of his priorities and Democrat provisions remained in the bill. And they still do.

Absurd claim #2 — Peterson states that he could never support cuts to SNAP.
Reality:  In 2014, Peterson negotiated $20 billion in cuts to SNAP.

April 18: Peterson votes ‘No’ on the Farm Bill.

It is truly a shame that Nancy Pelosi had more say in the Farm Bill than Minnesota’s farmers. Collin Peterson needs to explain himself ASAP – and use facts instead of fiction this time.
