NRCC Weekly Rundown

February 15, 2019

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

National: Anti-Semites Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib continued to disgrace themselves this week. In a series of tweets, Omar once again floated bigoted anti-Semitic tropes, despite being warned about her rhetoric years ago by the Minnesota Jewish community. And while even House Democrats condemned her hate, they refused to remove her from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Omar demonstrated that her half-hearted apology was bogus when she fundraised off of her anti-Semitism. Meanwhile, details emerged of Rashida Tlaib writing for known anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan’s hate-filled publication. Democrats have a huge anti-Semitism problem on their hands and they refuse to act.

National: Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke made clear where Democrats really stand on border security, calling for the existing wall between El Paso and Juarez to be torn down. Will his Texas Dem pals Lizzie Fletcher and Collin Allred join Beto’s open borders flock?

National: The liberal hacks at PolitiFact were at it once again, attempting to cover for an outright lie by a prominent Democrat. Anti-Semite Ilhan Omar claimed at a congressional hearing that McDonald’s pays its full time workers a third of what they actually do, but the liberal blog couldn’t bring itself to rate her claim false.

National: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to give the socialist Green New Deal a vote so that Democrats could make their voices heard on where they stand. Will Nancy Pelosi follow suit so the 68 House Democrats cosponsoring the plan can get a vote on their plan to abolish cow farts?

National: Democrats threatened to derail budget talks over their demand to limit the number of criminal illegal aliens that ICE could detain. That demand comes despite the fact that they voted to place no restrictions on ICE just last month. Democrats then refused to include an extension of the Violence Against Women Act in the bill, instead demanding it be allowed to lapse. Democrats’ hatred of President Trump has driven them crazy to the point where they no longer even know why they’re fighting.

CA-21: T.J. Cox has been outspoken on environmental issues, but has been awfully quiet on the socialist Green New Deal. Could his reason be that even radical California Governor Gavin Newsome realized that the plan to replace airplanes with high speed rail was unrealistic and irresponsible? Or maybe because of the farting cow issues in his district?

CA-49: Mike Levin issued a tweet generically condemning anti-Semitism, but refused to speak directly on Ilhan Omar’s hateful remarks. Will Levin finally answer whether he thinks it’s appropriate for Democrats to seat an anti-Semite on the Foreign Affairs Committee? Levin was further embarrassed when even Governor Gavin Newsome made clear his zany Green New Deal was unworkable as he shut down plans for the California high speed rail boondoggle.

MI-08: Elissa Slotkin opposes all efforts to secure our border, but she’s making her top priority on immigration well known: helping those who knowingly attempted to defraud the federal government. Slotkin vowed to assist “students” who knowingly signed up for a fake school in order to fraudulently receive visas.

MI-11: Haley Stevens had no answer for whether she supports the efforts of some in her party to make post-birth abortion legal. Instead of addressing the very real issue, Haley awkwardly tried to change the subject to gun background checks and when pressed said that such decisions should be left to doctors who support killing newborns like Kermit Gosnell.

MN-07: Collin Peterson says all the right things in public, but he’s done nothing about his party’s radical left turn. Peterson stood silently by as his Democratic colleagues threatened to shut down the government over their demand that ICE detain fewer criminal illegal aliens.

NE-02: Retread socialist candidate Kara Eastman came out strongly in favor of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal plan to ban cows. Will Ann Ashford sign on in an effort to avoid her husband’s fate of being rejected by the lefty base and losing a primary to Eastman?

NV-03, VA-02: Susie Lee and Elaine Luria circulated a letter saying they were alarmed by Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitic rhetoric, but apparently they weren’t all THAT alarmed. Lee and Luria continue to refuse to call on Democrat leadership to remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

NY-11: Max Rose said that he forgives Ilhan Omar for her anti-Semitic comments because the two “share values.” Which values are those exactly? Because in addition to being an anti-Semite, Omar is also a socialist who has supported lenient sentences for terrorists, the socialist Green New Deal and a 90% tax rate.

NY-19: Antonio Delgado backed the socialist Green New Deal on the campaign trail, and now he’s facing pressure from the left to make good on his word. This puts Delgado in quite a pickle, because if he wants to stay in the good graces of his base, he’ll need to sign on to a plan that bans cows and airplanes while rebuilding every building in America.

Virginia: As more victims come forward accusing Justin Fairfax of rape, the failure of Elaine Luria, Abigail Spanberger and Jennifer Wexton to return campaign donations from Fairfax becomes more indefensible. Clearly these three prioritize their reelection campaigns over doing what’s right.

VA-10: While national Democrats cope with their raging anti-Semitic problem, Jennifer Wexton has her own issues back home. Wexton endorsed an anti-Semite for a House of Delegates seat and has refused to rescind it.

News and Notes:

House approves border security package, as White House prepares to declare national emergency
But National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) head Tom Emmer said in a statement that, under the circumstances, the bill was the best available option.

“I applaud President Trump and Republican leaders in Congress for securing the best deal anyone could hope to get with these socialist Democrats running the House of Representatives,” Emmer said. “We could have gotten a much better deal if Democrats weren’t so blinded by their quest for open borders and their hatred of ICE that they were willing to jeopardize the safety of our law enforcement personnel on the southern border.” READ

Pelosi’s freshmen fracture amid GOP pressure
House Democratic leaders have a rebellion in their ranks. And there’s no easy way to quash it.

House Democrats have repeatedly faced surprise Republican floor attacks since taking control of the chamber, part of a bid by the GOP to target their most vulnerable members and fracture the party. Just six weeks in, the GOP effort has been an astonishing success — dividing Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her top deputies and pitting members of the freshmen class against each other. READ

Accusations of socialism drive GOP’s 2019 (and 2020) playbook
“A far left fringe party pushing a socialist platform,” said Chris Pack, National Republican Congressional Committee communications director, describing Democrats in 2019.

The strategy could work in swing districts, figured Raleigh-based GOP strategist Carter Wrenn.

“It’s a legitimate question whether Democrats are going to go so far left they’ll get a reaction from swing voters,” he said. READ

House GOP taunts Dems with surprise vote to condemn anti-Semitism
Within minutes of the vote, the House GOP’s campaign arm released a statement calling out Democrats.

“Democrats can no longer claim that these types of votes are merely procedural and not substantive,” the National Republican Campaign Committee wrote in its email blast. READ

2020 campaign starts now: GOP targets California’s new House Democrats
After freshman Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York came up with a “Green New Deal” that she called on Democrats across the nation to endorse, Republicans were quick to tie Democrats to the more controversial aspects of the plan.

Seizing on information in the congresswoman’s list of “frequently asked questions,” which was quickly withdrawn, a spokeswoman for the GOP congressional committee fired off emails asking if Harder, Cox and Hill agreed with “the socialist Democrats’ plan to ban air travel,” ban fossil fuels and “eliminate millions of jobs in the energy industry.” The resolution introduced in Congress contains none of those things. Is Granite Park still cursed? Fresno DA reviewing audit tied to congressman, developer
Personal loans, missing documents, spending that appeared “not ethical” and a lot of unaccounted money were all issues raised by a recent Fresno audit into a nonprofit charged with rehabilitating Granite Park.
