The IRS has found itself embroiled in yet another scandal this week, and California families are wondering: Will Ami Bera condemn the agency’s blatant waste of taxpayer dollars?

It was reported this week that between 2010 and 2012, the IRS spent over $50 million on conferences, subsidized sporting event tickets, and lavish hotel stays for its employees. Over 2,500 of the IRS’s employees received these extravagant benefits, which included baseball tickets and stays in presidential suites that cost up to $3,000 a night.

“It’s clear that this Administration is riddled with wild amounts of irresponsible spending, and it’s time for Ami Bera to condemn this type of wasteful spending and demand action,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “Bera owes it to his hard-working constituents to condemn these actions and send a message to Washington that wasteful and reckless spending by the Obama Administration and their agencies will not be tolerated.”

The 2,600 attendees received benefits, including baseball tickets and stays in presidential suites that normally cost $1,500 to $3,500 per night. In addition, 15 outside speakers were paid a total of $135,000 in fees, with one paid $17,000 to talk about “leadership through art,” the House committee said. (“House report: IRS spent $50M on conferences.” By AP Staff, USA Today, 6/2/2013)

Pelosi orders Barrow to hold public events defending ObamaCare

Yesterday it was reported that Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a 78-page memo instructing every Democrat, including Rep. Barrow, who previously voted against repealing ObamaCare, must choose who will defend ObamaCare’s higher health care costs and cuts to medical services.

“Georgia families deserve to know who John Barrow will pick as his ObamaCare Coordinator and how many public events he plans to host to defend its devastating consequences,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “It’s becoming increasingly evident that John Barrow is taking his marching orders from Nancy Pelosi at the expense of Georgia families.”

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement today in response to Rep. Jo Bonner’s (R-AL) announcement that he will retire from office on August 15 to take a newly created position at the University of Alabama System.

“While serving the people of Alabama’s First District for the past decade, Jo Bonner has been a dedicated and incredibly hard-working Member of Congress. A native Alabaman, Jo has constantly ensured the interests and concerns of his constituents are heard in the halls of Congress. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Jo has fought for a fiscally responsible approach to our nation’s spending. I wish Jo and his family all the best as they begin this new chapter in their lives.”

“Alabama’s First District is a strong Republican district. In the 2012 election, Mitt Romney won Jo’s District with 61% of the vote. I am confident that the next Republican to serve this district will continue Jo’s constituent-first approach as part of our growing Republican majority.”

Nolan Voted Against the Job-Creating, Energy-Producing Project

Sadly, Democrat Rick Nolan voted today to block the construction of the Keystone Pipeline, a project which would not only create jobs but also move our country towards an All-American energy economy.

With nearly 75% of Americans supportive of the construction of the pipeline, Nolan needs to explain to Minnesota families why he voted against this needed project.

“Rick Nolan’s vote against the Keystone Pipeline today is just plain irresponsible,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “What our country needs is energy independence and a more robust job market, not irresponsible representation from Nancy Pelosi’s lap dogs. Nolan owes his constituents an explanation.”

Rick Nolan voted against H.R. 3 (Roll Call Vote 179, H.R. 3, 5/22/13)

Nearly 75% of Americans and 68% of Canadians indicated they “support” or “somewhat support” the project. (“Survey Finds Majority Backs Keystone Pipeline.” Paul Viera, The Wall Street Journal, 4/22/2013)

Terry’s bill finds that to keep the nation’s competitive edge, it needs a “fast, reliable, resilient and environmentally sound means of moving energy.”The delivery of oil from Canada via the Keystone pipeline helps achieve that goal, and also lessens dependence on “insecure foreign sources,” it says. (“House to vote on Keystone next week.” Pete Kasperowicz, The Hill, 5/17/13)

Barrow’s ‘No’ Vote For The Working Families Flexibility Act Show Us Where His Priorities Lie

WASHINGTON – Today, John Barrow proved to Georgia families where he really stands – and it’s not with them. Barrow voted against The Working Families Flexibility Act, legislation that allows for greater workplace flexibility and balance for working mothers and fathers. Over 50% of mothers in America are part of our country’s workforce, and allowing these families more flexibility at home and at work is an essential and necessary step. Barrow owes the families in his district an explanation for voting against this pro-family bill.

“After voting against the Working Families Flexibility Act, it’s clear that John Barrow’s priorities do not lie with the hard-working families of his Georgia district,” said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. “John Barrow owes the thousands of working mothers and fathers in his district an apology after failing to stand up for their workplace freedoms, and instead, for the radical Pelosi agenda.”

64.4 percent of mothers with kids under 18 work for pay. (As of 2010, per U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) (“Working Moms: The Data and the Politics.” By Gary Langer, ABC News. 4/12/12)

The labor force participation rate–the percent of the population working or looking for work–for all mothers with children under age 18 was 70.6 percent in 2011. (“Employment Characteristics of Families Summary.” The Bureau of Labor Statistics, 4/26/12)

Today on Capitol Hill, the House Republicans’ Oversight & Government Reform Committee, led by Chairman Darrell Issa, is holding an official Congressional hearing on the Benghazi cover-up.

After the September 2012 attack in Libya that left four Americans dead, it has since become clear that the Obama administration covered up what was a deliberate and intentional terrorist attack. Additionally, he’s since refused to disclose the role Al-Qaeda had in this planned violence. After months of being misled by the Obama Administration and Hillary Clinton, we may finally get answers.

This might be the largest cover-up since Watergate, and Obama knows it.

Will you add your name to demand the facts on Benghazi from President Obama?

These are the three witnesses who were on the ground in Benghazi giving testimony right now:

Mr. Mark Thompson – Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism, US Department of State

Mr. Gregory Hicks – Foreign Service Officer and former Deputy Chief of Mission/Chargé d’Affairs in Libya, US Department of State

Mr. Eric Nordstrom – Diplomatic Security Officer and former Regional Security Officer in Libya, US Department of State

Americans deserve a clear explanation of what happened, but we also owe it to ourselves to ensure this never happens again.

We need to show Obama and the Democrats that they can’t get away with this.
