Joe Garcia Claims He Supports Colombia, but is Bankrolled by Anti-Colombia Free Trade Interests Posted By: NRCC Press Shop, October 25, 2008 - 12:33 PM South
Florida Democrat Joe Garcia has claimed he supports the Colombia Free Trade
Agreement, but his FEC reports tell a very different story. The truth is
Garcia's campaign has been bankrolled by Congressional Democrats who also voted
to kill the pact. Check out the numbers:
"Garcia's
willingness to campaign with Nancy Pelosi, who stood in the way of the Colombia
Free Trade Agreement, exposes his hypocrisy and shows the voters in Florida
that he is willing to put partisan politics over the best interests of his
constituents and our economy," NRCC spokesman Ken Spain said in a statement. (
Disturbing Trend Pops Up Again in NY-01 Posted By: Greg Blair, October 23, 2008 - 3:25 PM Across the
country, reports have poured in that angry and often violent liberal protestors
are abusing their right to free speech by violating candidates' signs, homes,
and offices, and even physically attacking supporters. The picture below came
in from Zeldin's innocuous
campaign sign was vandalized with an anti-veterans message. Rep. Bishop has not
condemned these actions, leaving some to wonder if he quietly approves. It's
time for Tim Bishop to take a stand against these dirty campaign tactics and
stop to these actions. ![]()

What Just Happened? Posted By: NRCC Press Shop, October 06, 2008 - 4:31 PM This week, the NRCC released its newest web ad, entitled "What Just Happened?" The ad pinpoints the root of the nation's current economic crisis: while all warning signs showed that the Democrats' irresponsible economic agenda would lead to disaster, Democrats turned the other way as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lined their campaign coffers. Now, the American people are left to foot the bill, while the liberals in charge of the Democrat party point fingers at everyone but themselves. ![]() What just happened? Editorial Boards Weigh In on the Democrats' Sham Energy Bill Posted By: NRCC Press Shop, September 24, 2008 - 8:43 PM The Pensacola News Journal, 9/22/08: ![]() David
Reinhard, The
Oregonian, 9/17/08: "Nancy Pelosi's 'Drilling' Charade. ... Pelosi's
alternative-energy choice? Snake oil. ... How lame is the energy bill that
Speaker Nancy Pelosi had her House Democrats pass through the House on Tuesday?
Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu said before the vote that Pelosi's handiwork would
be "dead on arrival" in the Senate. ... The Pelosi bill does not
constitute an energy strategy to bring down prices over the long term. It's a
political strategy to give the illusion of action. ... The bill's sham drilling
provisions are clear when set against the House Republicans' drilling
provisions ... The Pelosi bill keeps 88 percent of this resource-rich area (the
85 percent of the outer-continental now under lock and key) off-limits for
good. This is an energy policy? ... Pelosi's bill is an obvious charade." Kerrville
(TX) Daily Times,
9/18/08: "Energy bill attempts to trick Americans. ...The [Democrats' energy]
bill was nothing more than a pathetic attempt to pull the wool over Americans'
eyes. The House bill barely is a baby step in a path toward the mythical land
of energy independence and is predicted to go nowhere in the Senate. While
supposedly voting to open the nation's coastlines for exploration and
production, the bill does little other than to provide talking points in the
upcoming election." Philadelphia
Inquirer,
9/19/08 "The [GOP] campaign succeeded in pressuring House Speaker Nancy E.
Pelosi (D., Calif.) to hold a vote last week to allow offshore oil drilling. ...
The legislation approved by the House would allow drilling, but prohibits
exploration within 50 miles of shore - where much of the oil and natural gas
deposits are located. And it prevented states from sharing in oil royalties,
thereby eliminating the main financial incentive for states to take the
environmental risk of permitting exploration. ... America does need to reduce its
dependence on foreign oil, and more drilling, along with renewable and clean
energy, should be part of the solution." Buffalo News, 9/22/08: "Drilling
bill lacks substance. ... The bill also would give each coastal state a veto over
drilling off its shores, but would not offer those states any share in the
revenue created, further decreasing the chances that the drilling Democrats may
claim to be allowing by this vote will ever really happen. ... But for any bill
to have a hope of, or a reason for, becoming law, it should offer some real
hope of new offshore drilling, with firm expectations that claims of new,
environmentally safe methods be put in place. ..." Wall
Street Journal,
9/19/08: "Pelosi's Drilling Ruse. ... The sudden pro-drilling makeover of the
Pelosi Democrats has always had an air ヨ a gale, really ヨ of election-year
convenience, and the House proved it Tuesday by passing an energy bill that
would put any bunko man to shame. This confidence trick won't expand domestic
oil-and-gas supplies even a bit. ... The real game was to give vulnerable Democrats
political cover by letting them vote for more offshore drilling ヨ while also
making more drilling all but impossible, thus appeasing the party's green wing.
... The House bill shows that the Pelosi Democrats simply aren't serious about
expanding domestic energy supplies." Fort-Worth
Star-Telegram,
9/19/08: "A Democratic-backed House bill doesn't allow for a sufficient
expansion of offshore drilling. ...Oh, come on ラ you can do better than that.
That's our reaction to an energy bill passed by Democrats in the U.S. House of
Representatives. It would very moderately expand offshore drilling, but not to
a sufficient degree. ... Many Republicans denounced the House bill as a sham that
would do little to encourage offshore drilling. ... What's needed is a bill that
allows a substantial expansion of offshore drilling and provides incentives to
states for allowing it."
