Fresh From “Billionaire’s Row” And After Disappointing Jobs Numbers, Is Obama Planning Another “Charm Offensive”?

• President Obama is back in Washington and ready to resume his second so-called “charm offensive,” yet his recent actions are anything but charming.

• It’d be easier to believe him if he hadn’t just spent the week in San Francisco, lining the DCCC’s coffers and lamenting how much easier things would be if Nancy Pelosi were Speaker again.

• In fact, since being reelected, President Obama has embarked on a never-ending campaign, jet-setting around the country on Air Force One to demagogue Republicans.

• As President Obama looks to save Democrats’ jobs, Americans are losing theirs in large numbers—as evidenced by the alarming March jobs report.

• Maybe if the president spent as much time working with Republicans as he does raising money for Nancy Pelosi, we might have some hope of creating jobs and breaking our economic stagnation.

A Little More Than A Month Ago, President Obama Began His First “Charm Offensive.” “President Barack Obama called two more Republican senators Monday in advance of a high profile charm offensive on Capitol Hill this week, White House and Congressional officials have confirmed.” (Jim Acosta, “Obama Charm Offensive Continues Ahead Of Hill Visits,” CNN, 3/12/13)

Obama Attended Several DCCC Fundraisers Hosted By San Francisco’s “Billionaire’s Row.” “Among the four fundraisers President Obama is scheduled to attend in California next week is a dinner at the Getty mansion in San Francisco’s famed Billionaires Row, according to a Democrat briefed on the plans.” (Donovan Slack, “Obama To Hit Billionaires Row For DCCC,” Politico, 3/26/13)

The Trip Was A “Down Payment On His Vow To Go All In For Democrats In 2014.” “Making a down payment on his vow to go all in for Democrats in 2014, President Barack Obama is courting well-heeled donors in California on a two-day fundraising jaunt that requires the president to walk a fine line: Berate Republicans too much, and Obama could put fragile prospects for achieving his second-term goals in jeopardy.” (Jim Kuhnhenn And Josh Lederman, “President Obama Raises Millions For Democrats During San Francisco Fundraising Stop,” Associated Press, 4/4/13)

President Obama Told Donors How Much Easier It’d Be To Govern If Nancy Pelosi Were Speaker. “President Barack Obama said Wednesday at a DCCC fundraiser it would be difficult for him to pass a slew of second-term agenda items without Nancy Pelosi regaining her speakership. ‘I would be dishonest if I didn’t say that it would be a whole lot easier to govern if I had Nancy Pelosi as Speaker,’ Obama said at the second Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser he attended, this one at the home of San Francisco investor Gordon Getty.” (Kevin Robillard, “Obama: I Need Nancy Pelosi In Speaker’s Chair,” Politico, 4/4/13)

President Obama embarked on his first fundraising tour of the 2014 cycle yesterday. Among his stops was the home of Tom Steyer—the liberal billionaire who has led the charge against coal and Keystone, even vowing to “destroy” those who support it.

But it was what he said at another San Francisco mansion that showed his true agenda. With Nancy Pelosi by his side, he sung her praises and implored the millionaires gathered to send her back to Washington with the Speaker’s gavel.

But what he said next strikes to the heart of our mission here at the NRCC:

“‘I would be dishonest if I didn’t say that it would be a whole lot easier to govern if I had Nancy Pelosi as Speaker,’ Obama said at the second Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser he attended, this one at the home of San Francisco investor Gordon Getty.”

That’s right. The only thing standing in the way of President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and cementing his liberal legacy is the Republican majority in the House of Representatives. Without Republicans who are committed to standing up for common-sense policies that will grow our middle class and put our country on a more sustainable path, President Obama would get everything he wants.

More unbalanced budgets…

More taxes for the middle class…

More kowtowing to far-left billionaires like Tom Steyer…

More bureaucratic intrusion into your daily life…

Join us as we stand against Obama, Pelosi, and liberals like Steyer who want nothing more than to return to power. Middle-class families are depending on expanding our Republican majority so we can bring pro-growth policies once again.

Stand up and fight with the NRCC today and ensure that Nancy Pelosi never gets close to the Speaker’s chair again.
