Did you see that Martha Robertson is having a press conference to denounce Congressional perks? Check out the particulars at this “blog” which somehow left out the “particular” location of the conference.
Martha apparently got the memo from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committeethat this would be a good thing to do. And we mean literally got the memo from the DCCC. You see, Martha’s “Congressional perks” charade is nothing more than a cheap campaign stunt directed by Washington Democrats and used by at least 4 other Democrats over the past week – Aaron Woolf (NY-21), Aimee Belgard (NJ-03), Michael Wager (OH-14), and most recently Patrick Hays (AR-02).
Then again, given Martha’s recent habit of using – verbatim – debunked talking points from the DCCC, this isn’t really a surprise.
But if anyone happens to be going to Martha’s Second Hand Campaign Stunt Store today – ahem – her press conference, maybe they can ask Martha the following:
- Is she calling on Brian Higgins, Louise Slaughter, Chuck Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand and the rest of the New York Democrats in the delegation to renounce their “Congressional perks?”
- Does she think that she is a bit of a hypocrite given the fact that, on the Tompkins County Legislature, she consistently voted to raise her own pay while also raising everyone else’s taxes?
- Would she define as a “perk” the $110,000 desk that she purchased for the Tompkins County Legislature with taxpayer money?
