Nevada Families’ Message to Dina Titus: Show Me the Jobs

One Year and Billions of Dollars Later, Nevada Families are Forced to Ask: Where are the Jobs?

Washington- A year after Dina Titus and her party passed their stimulus failure through the House, 49 out of 50 states suffer higher unemployment rates and the federal deficit has ballooned to its largest point since World War II. After wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on their partisan government giveaway, middle-class Nevada families have a message for Dina Titus: Show me the jobs.

Democrats promised to create jobs, but according to economists, that simply hasn’t happened:

“The $787 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is supposed to help jump-start the economy and especially put Americans back to work. But the truth is, relatively little of the stimulus spending has directly led to new hiring.

“’Most of the thrust has been in trying to prevent jobs from being lost,’ said Nigel Gault, Chief U.S. economist for Global Insight. ‘It probably hasn’t created a lot of new jobs given where the money has gone.”

“’The vast majority of the saved/created jobs is on the saved side, probably 75% or more,’ said Dave Huether, chief economist of the National Association of Manufacturers.” (Allan Chernoff, “Stimulus but no jobs,” CNN, 1/27/2010)

Money that was supposed to go to the private sector has been spent stimulating the Democrats’ big-government agenda:

“Although President Obama initially said that 90 percent of the jobs created by the stimulus program would be in the private sector, the data suggests that well over half of the jobs claimed so far have been in the public sector.” (Michael Cooper and Ron Nixon, “Reports Show Conflicting Number of Jobs Attributed to Stimulus Money,” The New York Times, 11/5/09)

“After a year of bleeding jobs, Nevada families still aren’t getting answers from Dina Titus,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Instead of owning up to her stimulus failure, Titus has repeatedly offered a rubber-stamp seal of approval to her party’s big-government, big-spending agenda. With a mountain of debt in front of them and billions of their taxpayer dollars wasted, Nevada families want to know: Where are the jobs?”
