Will Kissell Forego Pelosi's Healthcare Bill and Back a Plan that Lowers Costs and Reduces the Deficit?
With an Alternative Proposal Now on the Table, Kissell Has the Chance to Stand up to Party Leaders and Deliver a Real Healthcare Solution
Washington- Larry Kissell’s party leaders in Washington are attempting to force their $1.3 trillion government healthcare takeover onto the American people but this much is clear: North Carolina families aren’t interested in paying hundreds of billions of dollars in new taxes just to cover the cost for the latest piece of Nancy Pelosi’s reckless agenda. Fortunately, there’s an alternative available – one that will actually lower the cost of insurance premiums and reduce the ballooning federal deficit by $68 billion over the next ten years.
“The Congressional Budget Office Wednesday night released its cost analysis of the Republican health care plan and found that it would reduce health care premiums and cut the deficit by $68 billion over ten years.
“The Republican plan does not call for a government insurance plan but rather attempts to reform the system by creating high-risk insurance pools, allowing people to purchase health insurance policies across state lines and instituting medical malpractice reforms.
“‘Not only does the GOP plan lower health care costs, but it also increases access to quality care, including for those with pre-existing conditions, at a price our country can afford,’ House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said.” (Susan Ferrechio, “CBO: Republican Health Plan Would Reduce Premiums, Cut Deficit,” Washington Examiner, 11/5/09)
This plan is in stark contrast to the Democrats’ government takeover of healthcare, which is nothing more than another trillion-dollar government spending spree. Instead of handing over control of healthcare to government bureaucrats, this new plan focuses on real reform and will not raise taxes or slash Medicare benefits as Democrats are proposing. If Larry Kissell claims to be working on behalf of the voters in his district instead of his Washington masters, now is the time for him to step up.
“Now that there is a sound, cost-effective plan on the table that can actually accomplish the type of healthcare reform that Americans are clamoring for, the ball is squarely in Larry Kissell’s court,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Kissell has the opportunity to show his constituents the type of independent leadership that politicians like him love to tout but rarely deliver. The question is: Will Kissell stand up to Nancy Pelosi’s job-killing, tax-hiking agenda and back a plan that actually lowers costs and reduces a ballooning federal deficit?”
With this new, commonsense plan now on the table, will Larry Kissell reach across the aisle to stand up for North Carolina families or will he bow to his party leaders as they attempt to brush it aside in favor of their budget-busting healthcare takeover?
