Staci Appel Opposes Revoking U.S. Passports Of Terrorists

September 12, 2014

Last night, Staci Appel said she would oppose revoking the passports of known American terrorists who admit to joining terrorist organizations like the Islamic State.

When David Young was asked what he would do to prevent homegrown terrorism, Young said:

“I’d be urging our State Department to revoke the passports of those who have admitted they’re part of terrorist organizations. Our State Department has that authority. Right now they’re not doing it. They’re disguising it under the gauge of religious freedom. That’s a concern to me.”

Appel was asked the same question and responded:

“I would not be urging taking away their passports,” Appel replied. “I think we need to make sure that we work through the system and look through it on a very diligent basis.”

“Staci Appel proved to Iowa voters last night that she is unfit for office. Appel’s refusal to take the threat of terrorism and the Islamic State seriously is disturbing and wrong. The last thing Iowans need is someone like Staci Appel overseeing America’s military and counterterrorism operations.”– Tyler Q. Houlton, NRCC Spokesman
