Rahall Supports Obama Before His Constituents

January 1, 2009

Exactly one week ago entrenched Democrat Nick Rahall said he’s got President Obama’s back this November. A week later, West Virginia voters in Rahall’s coal country district resoundingly rebuke President Obama and his policies. While other elected Democrats in West Virginia see the writing on the wall, Rahall continues to put his support for Obama before his constituents.

May 2, Rahall: “I’m supporting Democrats this November, and that includes the Democratic nominee for president.”

May 8, Obama loses six counties, and comes close to losing four more, in Nick Rahall’s 3rd District to a federal prisoner in Texas.

Even West Virginia’s Democrat Senator Joe Manchin refused to say who he voted for in the Democratic presidential primary yesterday.

As you cover Nick Rahall’s continued support for President Obama and his anti-energy policies in the face of a massive rebuke by West Virginians, consider the following quote:

NRCC Comment: “President Obama’s war on energy is destroying West Virginia jobs, and Nick Rahall continues to be his biggest cheerleader in the state. Obama losing six counties in the 3rd District to a Texas prison inmate is the canary in the coal mine that Rahall’s 36 year career in Congress is coming to an end.” – NRCC Spokesman Nat Sillin
