McCarthy, Hensarling Get NRCC Leadership Roles

January 28, 2009

Reps. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) have been given top leadership posts at the National Republican Congressional Committee for the 2010 campaign cycle.

McCarthy will head up the committee’s recruitment efforts, while Hensarling will oversee the NRCC’s fundraising, committee spokesman Ken Spain confirmed Wednesday.

No stranger to helping his colleagues’ campaigns, McCarthy and two other GOP Members founded the “Young Guns” fundraising and infrastructure program in the 2008 cycle. At the start of this Congress, he was tapped to be the GOP’s Chief Deputy Whip…

The NRCC already tapped Reps. Mike Rogers (Mich.), Peter Roskam (Ill.) and Dean Heller (Nev.) to help with incumbent retention efforts. Oregon’s lone Republican, Rep. Greg Walden, is serving as vice chairman of the committee.
