New NRCC ad attacks Murphy over bonuses

The National Republican Congressional Committee is up with a new ad blasting Democrat Scott Murphy for serving on the board of an Internet company that gave its employees bonuses even as it was losing money.

“Scott Murphy sat on a board that approved hundreds of thousands in bonuses for executives of a company that lost millions of dollars,” the ad says. “AIG, Wall Street, Scott Murphy: They just don’t get it. Never will.”

This populist messaging has been a recurrent theme for the NRCC against Murphy, and shows how the political sentiment has shifted in recent months…

… But with the economy in the toilet, Murphy’s business background has become one of the leading attack lines for the GOP – particularly given the recent controversies surrounding insurance giant AIG.
