NRCC Sends Out Financial SOS on N.Y. Race

April 1, 2009

With the special election in New York’s 20th Congressional district deadlocked, the National Republican Congressional Committee sent out an early-morning financial appeal Wednesday, urging supporters to contribute so the Democrats don’t steal the election.
In an e-mail with the subject line, “Don’t Let ’Em Pull a Franken,” NRCC Executive Director Guy Harrison urged Republicans to pony up to the committee “to ensure we can overcome the Democrats’ legal maneuvers.” …
… That didn’t prevent Harrison from predicting a nasty legal fight in his e-mail — and calling for reinforcements.
“Democrats have almost succeeded in stealing the election in Minnesota and seating Al Franken,” he wrote. “We cannot allow them to manipulate electoral results to seat another tax-troubled liberal.
“We need your support to make sure the will of the residents of New York’s 20th district prevails in the final outcome.
“Please contribute today and together we can ensure a fair and accurate count of the remaining ballots.”
