Guinta makes congressional run official

May 11, 2009

Announcing his run for Congress this morning, Manchester Mayor Frank C. Guinta called the 1st District Democratic incumbent “out of touch, out of step with the majority” of the state.

Guinta, a Republican, criticized Carol Shea-Porter for her support of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and he bemoaned congressional actions that he said are shackling generations in debt.

“It is time we take back our government and make it work for the people again,” Guinta said. “I want to help restore good government to America and prosperity to all.”

The two-term mayor said his time in Manchester proves his fiscal responsibility. The state Democratic Party immediately took aim at that record, from crime to city schools in need of improvement.
