Countdown to Cave-In: How Much Longer Until Space Votes for Healthcare Takeover?
Deal Cutting Dem Earns Himself a Guarantee from NRCC that He Will Be on the Receiving End of August Ad Offensive

Washington- After blatantly turning his back on Ohio families by reportedly caving into his party bosses and moving forward with the Democrats’ job-killing healthcare takeover, Zack Space has put himself at the front of the line as the NRCC prepares to launch its latest paid media blitz over the August recess. As the Democrats’ healthcare bill continues to lose support across the country, Nancy Pelosi and fellow party leaders scrambled to strike a deal with so-called Blue Dog Democrats in order to move their agenda forward.

“Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) has cut a deal to reconvene his committee and vote on the Democrats’ sweeping health care bill, with a goal of completing work by the time lawmakers leave town for the summer on Friday.”

“The deal clears the way for the committee to restart its consideration of the bill, but only four of the seven Blue Dogs will vote for it in committee – Ross, Tennessee Rep. Bart Gordon, Indiana Rep. Baron Hill and Ohio Rep. Zack Space. But that should be enough to get the bill out of committee.” (Patrick O’Connor, “Henry Waxman Wins Breakthrough on Health Bill,” Politico, 7/29/09)

“It appears that Zack Space just gave Nancy Pelosi and the rest of his party bosses a rubber stamp to continue their push toward a government healthcare takeover that could kill millions of American jobs and force millions of Americans from their current insurance plans,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “In return, Space has earned his place on the receiving end of a media blitz that will alert his constituents that their Congressman once again pushed aside the concerns of Ohio families in order to side with his party’s anti-jobs agenda. Space won’t soon forget that he has once again put himself squarely at odds with the people who sent him to Washington to represent Ohio values and turn a struggling economy around.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Zack Space has voted against the interests of his constituents. Just a few weeks ago, Space voted in a favor of a job-killing national energy tax, otherwise known as cap-and-trade, on the same day that Nancy Pelosi filled his campaign coffers with at least $4,000 in donations. As a member of the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee, Space is in the unique position to put a stop to government takeovers of our economy, but he continues to bow to liberal party leaders like Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Hollywood), and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco).

Now that Zack Space has reportedly decided to hand Ohio families the tab for yet another Democrat-orchestrated government takeover, how soon will it be until he sells them out again?
