NRCC Launches New Web Video: John “Taxman” Callahan

Web Ad Hits Bethlehem Mayor for Proposing 17 Percent Tax Increase

Washington- A newly-released web video by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) highlights Mayor John Callahan’s egregious proposal to raise Bethlehem, Pennsylvania’s sales tax by 17% in the middle of an economic recession.  John “Taxman” Callahan, who is the DCCC-backed candidate for Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional district is proving himself to be a perfect fit among budget-busting Democrats in Washington.

“While Lehigh Valley residents are in need of economic relief during these challenging times, John Callahan’s only concern appears to be providing political relief to cover up a massive tax increase on middle-class families,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Now that Nancy Pelosi has hand-picked Callahan to run for Congress, it’s no surprise that he is adopting the same fiscally irresponsible policies that Pennsylvania taxpayers are tired of.  The only difference is that while Pelosi and Washington Democrats hide most of their political scheming behind closed doors, Callahan has been caught on tape.”

The web video puts a spotlight on Callahan discussing the need for “political cover” while proposing his tax increase at a Lehigh County Congress of Governments meeting.  As John “Taxman” Callahan goes on the campaign trail, he will be forced to answer to Pennsylvanians regarding this egregious tax assault on middle-class families.
