GOP Road Trip: Report from the Midwest

August 18, 2009

NRCC Recruitment Chair, Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and NRCC Redistricting Chair, Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) criss crossed the midwest, traveling from Illinois to Iowa (including a brief stop in Wisconsin).

We met with some great candidates, activists and party leaders thoughout to discuss the great opportunities we have in their home states to pick up seats in the US House.

The Congressmen have visited Chicago, Dubuque, Iowa City and Des Moines, where they joined friends at the outstanding Iowa State Fair yesterday.  Today, we started in Raleigh, North Carolina.

As the healthcare debate continues to rage and as Nancy Pelosi’s puppets face their constituents in townhalls throughout the United States, the energy and the support from Republicans has been invigorating.  We’ve had a chance to listen to the unique challenges facing middle-class Americans and focus on their thoughts on common sense solutions for the nation.

Stay tuned as we give regular updates throughout the week…
