He Asked for It: NRCC Launches AlanDisGrayson.com, GOP Nominee Fund
NRCC Turns Up the Heat on Florida Congressman-Turned-Circus Clown

Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) today launched the new web site AlanDisGrayson.com, chronicling Alan Grayson’s disgraceful record as the first-term Democrat from Orlando with a penchant for embarrassing himself and his constituents. In addition, House Minority Leader John Boehner and NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions are pleased to announce the official “FL-08 Nominee Fund.” Any dollar donated to this fund will go directly to the Republican candidate who emerges from the primary to challenge Alan Grayson in 2010.

“Alan Grayson is an individual with a pathological pattern of unstable and erratic behavior who appears to be hellbent on dragging down the national healthcare debate and his party along with him ,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “His despicable remarks were not an impassioned speech gone awry, they were part of a premeditated effort that was followed up with another insulting barrage of insults and attacks on the floor of the United States Congress. He is unfit to hold public office and if he is unwilling to apologize for his appalling behavior, Speaker Pelosi should call him out on it.”

When called upon to apologize for his disgraceful language, Grayson retorted with sarcasm on the House floor:

Instead of saying he was sorry about accusing Republicans of wanting people to ‘die quickly,’ he gave a mocking apology ‘to the dead.’

“‘I would like to apologize,’ he said. ‘I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven’t voted sooner to end this holocaust in America.’” (Jonathan Allen, “Grayson likens health crisis, holocaust,” Politico, 9/30/09)

Alan Grayson has not only disrespected the people of central Florida, but he has derailed the national debate on healthcare reform with his indefensible comments. As the Orlando Sentinel editorial board cogently put it yesterday, “[i]t’s outrageous.” Alan Grayson has gone too far with his made-for-cable sideshow and it is time for Floridians to have a representative worthy of the public trust.

In just a few short months in office, Grayson has accumulated an embarrassing record:

Requesting a $350,000 earmark for a controversial organization run by a “con-artist.”

Being named “The Congressman from ACORN” by a member of his own staff.

Admitting that he’d rather be on vacation than doing his job.

Two vitriolic and embarrassing speeches on healthcare.

The list goes on…
