Newt Gingrich makes campaign stop for Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski

September 20, 2010

One of the biggest names in Republican politics makes a campaign stop on behalf of 2nd Congressional District Candidate Jackie Walorski.

Monday afternoon former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was in Mishawaka.

Gingrich spoke at a fundraiser for Jackie Walorski. He then answered questions from reporters about what he thinks of the 2nd district’s race and the state of the nation.

Although he wouldn’t say if he’ll run for president he did say he thinks Governor Daniels would be an excellent candidate.

He also said many Americans will likely vote Republican this fall looking for lower taxes, job creation and a balanced budget. Gingrich said he is hopeful the party will take back the Senate and House.

“I think it is very likely we will pick up a senate seat here with Dan Coats. (We are) going to win the seat here with Jackie, couple of other seats. I sense this kind of a wave every where,” said Gingrich.

Donnelly’s campaign released a statement saying Congressman Donnelly spends more time working in the district than with political insiders.

Two debates have been scheduled between the candidates before the election.
