GOP bus tour touts Reid Ribble in House race

October 15, 2010

The Republican National Committee rolled into
Green Bay to hold a rally Thursday morning with
Chairman Michael Steele and congressional
candidate Reid Ribble.

The stop in the downtown area was part of the RNC’s
“Fire Nancy Pelosi” bus tour, which will visit more
than 100 cities leading up to the Nov. 2 election in
an attempt to garner support for Republican House
candidates and effectively take control of Congress’
lower chamber.

Democrats currently hold a 255-178 majority in the
House.

“Republicans in Wisconsin are fired up,” Steele said.
“I think, for voters, the choice is clear. People don’t
like the direction the country is headed in and they
want to change it.”

Ribble, a former roofing contractor from De Pere, is
in a tight race to unseat two-term U.S. Rep. Steve
Kagen, D-Appleton, after winning the party’s
endorsement on Sept. 14. Wisconsin’s 8th
Congressional seat has attracted considerable
attention from national organizations on both sides
of the political spectrum.

The district has never voted a Democrat to the
House in three consecutive elections.

“Its eye-opening that this morning Reid Ribble was
schmoozing with the same Washington politicians
that he was denouncing this afternoon when he met
with The (Appleton) Post-Crescent editorial board,”
Kagen spokeswoman Allison Jaslow said.
